MARK YOUR CALANDER! UPCOMING CONFERENCE ON THE CROSSING CHURCH TO CHALLENGE THEIR TEACHINGS AND PRACTICES!

"Anonymous" left this in the comments section of my last post before vacation.

SAVE THE DATE!!
When Friday September 9, 2011@ 6:30pm
Where? Elk River High School, Elk River, MN
What? Chris Rosebrough, Pirate Christian Radio, "Fighting for the Faith", coming to town for a one night conference exposing the concerns/false teachings of The Crossing Church/Eric Dykstra.
Come hear and decide for yourself.
Cost? FREE!

I plan on attending this conference. Has Eric Dykstra been invited to defend his theology? I would be surprised if he ever showed up! I would also like to know from those putting on this conference how they are promoting this event. Flyers? Radio? Word of mouth? I would like to help get the word out any way I can!

And just a big "heads up" to those who attend The Crossing and also want to attend this conference. I am quite certain that Crossing leadership will get wind of this conference, if they haven't done so already. If that's the case, then you will likely be pressured or threatened not to attend the conference!

But Scripture has an answer to such strong arm tactics. 1 John 4:1 says, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

Now, when the Apostle John talks about "every spirit", and "test the spirits", he is not necessarily talking about demons. I am a spirit being, so is Erik Dykstra and everyone else created in God's image. So the Bible, which Eric Dykstra affirms as The Crossing's final authority, is telling people to be on guard, cautious, and discerning. Many, many passages in the New Testament issue stern warnings about the presence and cleverness of false teachers. Don't believe everything you hear from pastors who claim to be Christians, including Eric Dykstra; compare their teachings and practices in the light of Scripture.

Are you a Christian? Whatever your answer, don't go by your feelings alone, because they will deceive you. And just because you said a sinner's prayer at the spur of the moment during a Crossing service doesn't mean that magically, you are a Christian. This is what Eric Dykstra would have you believe. Use Scripture to be the true yardstick of whether you possess genuine saving faith. The Apostle Paul wrote this, "Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless indeed you fail the test?" (2 Corinthians 13: 5).

So if Eric Dykstra is at all consistent, then he should have no problem with people from The Crossing attend the conference to see if his church is indeed an abusive, legalistic, non-gospel teaching church. He should wholeheartedly endorse Crossing attenders to test themselves to see whether they are truely a Christian, or just being deceived into thinking they are.

Scripture teaches that no man has authority to teach something contrary to Scripture, including subjective visions supposedly from God that are claimed to be authoritative. If Eric Dykstra opposes the clear teaching of Scripture, per the two Scripture passages cited above, then he is opposed to the Christian God and is seeking to elevate his own authority as superior to that of the Christian God's.

So Crossing attenders, be bold! If Dykstra tries to manipulate you into skipping the conference, then confront him with Scriptures like the ones above. Ask him some tough questions and ask him to explain his views and practices with specific Bible verses and passages. Vague, rambling, non-Scripture specific answers just won't do. Let him know that! Is he at all defensive, angry, critical, or destabilized by your questions? Does he say that you must submit to his authority? If so, you may want to ask him why he is he opposed to the clear teaching of Scripture? And ask him what it is he is hiding.

Remember, the stakes are high; your eternal destiny, and the eternal destiny of others depends on a right understanding of the Gospel.

Word of mouth and social media, would love any support you can give to getting word out.

I spoke with Chris on the phone yesterday, I am very excited for him to come- he shared his plan which includes a question/answer time and sharing the Gospel message. He also shared his prayer for this event, that Eric and Kelly would hear and repent, that they would become a healthy church...I support that!

    Looking forward to meeting you!

  4. I will attend, but a really good question comes to mind... How often has this pirate radio guy been to the crossing church to listen to the sermons? That means a lot to myself and others!

  5. Anonymous, thanks for your response. It's a good question. Does a person necessarily have to attend a church to know if what they teach is true or false? My answer to that is, no, any more than I have to attend a church of Jehovah Witness's or the Mormons. I don't need to take up smoking to know that cigarettes are bad for my health.

There is enough material available from The Crossing website that validates my claim that The Crossing preaches a false Gospel. Add to that the testimonies of people who have been involved in The Crossing and experienced spiritual abuse and subject to unbiblical teachings and practices.

Thanks for having an open mind in coming to hear both sides of the issue. Hope to see you there. I'll be wearing an orange baseball cap!
